The Continuum Group, the UK industry leader in the design, build and operation of museums and visitor attractions, has expanded into overseas markets with the launch of its first international office, in Tallinn, Estonia. Endorsed by the British Embassy, Continuum launched its new base at a recent event at the Maritime Museum in Tallinn – inaugurated by the British Ambassador for Estonia, Nigel Haywood.

Part of a grand expansion plan to open offices in emerging markets across parts of Europe, the Continuum Group has set up a base in Estonia, bringing its international expertise combined with local knowledge to the country.

A culturally rich country full of underdeveloped listed monuments, manor houses and castles, Estonia offers many opportunities for project work within its museums and attractions industry. Following accession to the European Union, the country is currently expanding its previously untapped tourism market and taking advantage of funding sources available.

The Continuum Group, which has previously worked on many international museum and attraction projects from its UK base, aims to match international expertise with local understanding in Estonia. The Tallinn office will be run by local consultants on the ground, backed up with experts from the group’s York and Edinburgh offices.

It is headed up by Kristel Oitmaa, who has eight years' experience in the Estonian tourism industry. Previously working for the Estonian Tourist Board and Enterprise Estonia, Kristel was responsible for the development of tourism projects, project consultancy and evaluation.

Continuum in Estonia will offer a full range of services across the heritage and visitor attractions industry, from consultancy, market analysis, training and product development, to the design and production of displays and exhibitions, to the operational management and marketing of complete attractions.

Dominic Tweddle, chief executive of the Continuum Group said: “We are thrilled to have opened an office in Tallinn, where there are many exciting opportunities for projects, in the emerging tourism industry. Our consultants will offer expert consultancy advice and skills, to help the arts and culture industry act as a tool in driving tourism, which will in turn boost economic regeneration.”
