April 2008 | New archaeology display at Bristol Museum

Bristol Museum has invited the Bristol Alliance (developer of Cabot Circus) to install a temporary exhibition to present the results of archaeological excavations at Broadmead and Quaker Friars in Bristol in advance of a development to be known as Cabot Circus.

The exhibition will be based on a sequence of display boards featuring text, graphics and photographs with web cam footage showing the stages of excavations. The objectives of the exhibition will be to:

• Present the principal discoveries at Broadmead in an accessible and imaginative manner to appeal to the museum’s principal visitor groups

• Show how Broadmead and Quaker Friars fit into the story of Bristol as a whole from Anglo-Saxon times to the present day

• Show how archaeological and historical research is undertaken in an urban environment

The exhibition, located in the main entrance hall of the Museum, will open on 1st September and run for about 3 months.
